Tour itinerary
DAY 1: AUSTRALIA TO SHANGHAI
Fly to Shanghai for a three night stay.
DAY 2: SHANGHAI
Explore the Shanghai Museum and stroll along the famous Bund. This evening feast on traditional Shanghai cuisine.
DAY 3: SHANGHAI
Visit the Yu Gardens, the Old Town and explore the Xintiandi area. Cross the great Nanpu Bridge to the Pudong area. This evening cruise along the spectacular Huangpu River.
DAY 4: SHANGHAI TO GUILIN
This morning fly to Guilin, one of China’s most beautiful cities, and visit the Seven Star Caves.
DAY 5: GUILIN TO YANGSHUO
Relax on the Li River as you cruise to the town of Yangshuo for a two night stay. Spend the evening walking along the cobblestone streets or relax in a streetside café and absorb the colourful atmosphere.
DAY 6: YANGSHUO
This morning explore the beautiful rural countryside around Yangshuo and enjoy the afternoon free at your leisure. This evening watch a display of traditional cormorant fishing.
DAY 7: YANGSHUO – GUILIN TO XIAN
Return to Guilin and fly to Xian, the former imperial capital of China. This evening feast on a traditional Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet while watching a performance of music and dance dating back to the Tang Dynasty.
DAY 8: XIAN
Explore one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-sized Terracotta Warriors and Horses. Later, visit the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China.
DAY 9: XIAN TO BEIJING
See the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and the Shaanxi Provincial Museum. Stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter and explore the Islamic food markets. Afterwards you will fly to Beijing, the capital city of China.
DAY 10: BEIJING
Wander through the famous Tiananmen Square, passing Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum, followed by a visit to the treasure-filled Forbidden City, the world’s largest palace complex and home to the Ming and Qing dynasties for over 500 years.
DAY 11: BEIJING
It is often quoted in Beijing that ‘you have not been to China until you have climbed the Great Wall’. Stretching from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west, it is more than 5,000km long. Walk along the wall, admire the panoramic views. Later visit the 15thcentury Temple of Heaven, one of the most perfect examples of Ming architecture. Your evening entertainment will be an exciting acrobatics performance.
DAY 12: BEIJING
Enjoy a rickshaw tour through the traditional Hutong area and wander around the exquisite landscaped beauty of the Summer Palace. It was once a royal garden and summer retreat for the members of the Emperor’s family and their courtesans. This evening sample the delicious local specialty, Peking Duck.
DAY 13: DEPART BEIJING
This morning is free at your leisure before you are transferred to Beijing airport to board your overnight flight to Australia.
DAY 14: ARRIVE AUSTRALIA
Arrive home today.
